Recruitment
How
does a law firm 130 years old make it so long? By starting
over again each year to attract intelligent and dedicated
young men and women in whom we can entrust the excellence
and traditions of Jones Cork & Miller, LLP. Recruiting
law students for summer clerkship and associate positions
is a process designed to identify a few talented people each
year who can join us as we start the next 130 years.
The firm
actively seeks law school graduates for employment who possess
characteristics that will provide the foundation to become
a successful lawyer and a future partner with the firm:
·
A
strong work ethic
· The ability to work as a part
of a team
· The enjoyment of meeting and
working with people
· Superior organizational skills
· A desire to excel
While
among the largest law firms outside of Atlanta, attorneys
at Jones, Cork & Miller, LLP take pride that we can work
in an environment that combines hard work with friendship,
an early opportunity to do responsible work with unhindered
access to seasoned partners, and the stability of an established
practice with the prospect that each attorney can make his
or her mark in the firm and the community.
While
hiring decisions take into consideration all aspects of a
candidate's qualifications, the firm typically seeks candidates
for employment who have achieved a rank in the upper third
of their class, participated in law journal or moot court
activities, and demonstrated a capability to manage both their
classwork and extracurricular activities in college and law
school.
The firm
is committed to the training of associates. A new associate
is teamed with a partner mentor during the early years of
practice. A formal evaluation of an associate's performance
is conducted twice a year. Our goal during an attorney's period
of association with the firm is to do all we can to help him
or her achieve partnership.
Our associates
enjoy a full range of paid benefits, including medical insurance,
401(k) and profit sharing, State Bar of Georgia dues, expenses
of attending State Bar meetings, Macon Bar Association dues,
